Fourth of July had a very long weekend this year starting on Tuesday with the Fireman's Parade. The four of us headed down to Mamaroneck to watch the parade, and Peter was thrilled. But while Peter was so excited to see and hear all the fire trucks, Charles was less than pleased. He cried through the entire parade and it reminded me of when Peter was a baby and didn't like fire trucks, or at least the noise that they made.
Thursday night, we headed down to the Manor to watch the fireworks with friends. Once again, Peter was in awe of the fireworks. I couldn't really get any shots of his reactions, since he spent the bulk of the show sitting in my lap, but it was great hearing him be impressed. Charles still wasn't a fan of loud noises, but he did much better with the fireworks than he did with the parade, and seemed to really like being held by Daddy.
Saturday, we headed up to Fishkill for a barbecue and to spend some time in the pool. Peter went into the pool briefly, but spent the rest of the time sitting on the steps, which is huge progress. Charles, on the other hand, loved being in the pool. He didn't fuss at all as we brought him in, and laughed, smiled and splashed for ages. Afterwards, Peter played ring toss, badminton and golf while Charles spent some time with Aunt Aggie and did some tummy time.
